Joseph
Joseph has been waiting 258 days for a sponsor.
Joseph lives with his older sister and his parents in a one-room metal house in the district of Bo located in the southern part of Sierra Leone. Lack of access to clean water and electricity creates a daily challenge for the residents.
Most people in the area make a small living either farming their family plots or trading goods in the local markets. His father, however, is no longer able to work while his mother tends the house, so the family depends on support from their relatives. Joseph helps his sister with the family laundry.
Joseph is in class three at the local primary school. His favorite subject is English and loves to read. Joseph dreams of becoming a doctor when he grows up.

Develop Africa strategically empowers lives in Africa by providing educational opportunities and strengthening self-reliance so that individuals, families, and communities can create positive change in their own lives.
We empower lives by providing school supplies, scholarships, mosquito nets, solar lights, computer/vocational training, etc. We also provide microfinance loans and disaster relief. This helps them become self-sufficient and rise above poverty.
When individuals and families are strengthened, they can contribute towards community, national and international progress.
